Bio

 

David ‘Dee’ Delgado is a Puerto Rican independent photographer based in New York City mainly focused on documentary and photojournalism. His interest in learning and his desire to help people made him realize the necessity of documenting his surroundings and broadening the conversation using a camera.

He has had his work be part of the Jerome Avenue Workers Project, The Bronx Artist Documentary Project, Bronx X Bronx, No Longer Empty, Eddie Adams XXX, and the 71st Missouri Photo Workshop.

He is a 2023 Pulitzer Prize Finalist for Breaking News Reporting a recipient of the 2017 Nikon, Bill Eppridge award for excellence and truth In photographic Journalism, a 2020 winner of Bronx Recognizes Its Own (BRIO) award, and an awardee of the 2021 Yunghi Grant.

Dee is an independent photojournalist and frequent contributor to news outlets such as The New York Times, Reuters, Getty Images, Pro Publica, Roads and Kingdoms, Anthony Bourdain’s Parts Unknown, Newsday, Gothamist, Wall Street Journal, ESPN’s The Undefeated as well as many others.

Dee combines his documentary and photojournalist work with design, public speaking, and teaching. He is also the co-founder of 5 Journal an online magazine
